The images contained in this gallery are a personal project designed to highlight and honor my late mother’s creative genius.  A master porcelain doll maker, Joan Tawes poured the molds, fired the dolls, delicately painted their faces, fired them again, put the pieces together, customized their eyes and hair, and sewed their clothes.

Most of the dolls were sold at an estate sale, so I made it a project to capture their images in a similar manner that I would photograph and process my clients’ portraits.
